In this installment of our Exploring Architecture series, we're making a virtual tour of Buffalo, New York and Niagara Falls. Why go to Buffalo?

In addition to being the American gateway to Niagara Falls, it has some spectacular sites. At the turn of the last century, it had more millionaires per capita than anywhere else in the United States.

Buffalo's history as a center of industry gave it many places that endure and are being carefully preserved today. You can visit sites by Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan, HH Richardson and more!

This virtual tour will help you get ready to see Niagara Falls without missing the many sites Buffalo has to offer. You can see these sites over a long weekend so it's a great place to visit for a few days... or longer.

The following are examples of the sites we'll visit during our virtual tour...

We'll tour the American side of Niagara Falls, including the boardwalk that's rebuilt every year.

You won't believe the interior of Buffalo's City Hall building - or the views from the observation deck at the top!

There are a few Frank Lloyd Wright designs in the area. The Martin House (pictured) is not to be missed though we'll share others too.

Louis Sullivan's skyscraper in downtown Buffalo presents a level of detail rarely seen - certainly not on modern buildings.

Buffalo is home to some inspiring houses of worship.

HH Richardson, one of our favorite architects, designed an entire campus in Buffalo. We'll explain its current use and on-going preservation.

Ellicott Square was once the largest office building in the world - a title it held for more than a decade. It also has a Chicago connection.

Not everything in Buffalo is old and in need of preservation. We'll explore a modern building as well!

We'll close with our tour with a thorough exploration of Niagara Falls.

If you've not been to the falls lately, you're in for some surprises.
