Why this is important for you...

The lighting in our homes should be functional, help keep us safe, operate efficiently and make our spaces beautiful. Join us to learn how to select the most appropriate fixtures and lamps (bulbs) plus the layout necessary to accomplish your goals.

Good lighting design is one of the least expensive ways to transform and unlock the potential of a space. We’ll review layouts for interior and exterior spaces to help you highlight the value of your property with a bit of well-chosen and well-placed lighting.

We’ll close with a few notes on emerging technologies so you won’t miss some key opportunities.

Join us to answer:

  • What design solutions are available to make natural and artificial lighting complimentary?
  • What is glare and how can it be avoided?
  • What different levels of light are required for various surfaces or tasks?
  • How can homeowners use photometrics to layout light fixtures?
  • What are common bulb and fixture types?
  • How can we address the common challenges with common bulb and fixture types?
  • What lighting controls can be used to layer lighting in a space?
  • When is PoE (Power over Ethernet) lighting an appropriate solution?
  • How are lighting and control designs/layouts documented for construction?

As always, we’ll make our review in terms you can understand and use when speaking with contractors, home inspectors, etc.  We invite your questions as we go so we can be sure you get the most value out of this course.
